Nehal Solaiman was in the third trimester of pregnancy and things were not going as planned.
As a clinical pharmacist, Solaiman did not need any doctor to tell him what he already knew: he was gaining weight too quickly.

However, it turned out that their reduction in thyroid production was not the only problem. Solaiman also had gestational diabetes. Higher-than-normal blood sugar levels caused your baby to grow too big, too fast, which would pose a wide risk of complications.
“I wanted to be healthier, but without dieting or deprivation,” says Solaiman, PN1, who worked at a hospital in Alexandria, Egypt. “I tried to learn everything I could about nutrition so I could help myself.”
His efforts bore fruit. By the end of this third trimester, Solaiman no longer had gestational diabetes and gave birth to a healthy baby.
The experience inspired her to win one Precision Nutrition nutritional certificationand then launched a secondary business as a nutrition coach.
What would drive someone who already has a busy career to start a part-time nutritional coaching business?

What can healthcare professionals learn from a nutrition certification?
After using nutrition to solve her gestational diabetes problems, Solaiman discovered a new mission: to help women with similar problems.
“I wanted to help them understand their body and learn to lose weight without deprivation,” she says.
As part of his pharmacy training, Solaiman had studied nutrition and biology. But I didn’t know how to help people change. It was one thing to tell someone that broccoli was good for them. It was something else that inspired them to eat it.
“As a nutrition coach, I didn’t want to hand them a document and send it home,” she says. “I wanted to help them change their behavior: sleep better, reduce stress, and overcome emotional eating and other barriers.”

Solaiman did not need to study the Krebs cycle, metabolic pathways, or even the role of specific vitamins and minerals. She had this downstairs.

What would drive a busy pharmacist and mother to start a secondary business?
At the beginning of the COVID pandemic, Solaiman was working in a hospital.
Her son, Younis, was just one year old and didn’t look to catch the virus at work and then take it home.
So he took a leave of absence.
She started an online coaching business to earn income, but it meant a lot more than money to her.
He saw this as a long-term professional career and a way to help people change their lives for the better.
How does a coaching business grow during a pandemic?
It all started organically, when her sister-in-law learned that Solaiman had recently been certified as a nutrition coach.
“I was a nursing mother and she heard how it had transformed my health during pregnancy,” Solaiman says. “I wanted to lose weight, but not following a strict diet” eat this, not this. “
Solaiman organizes regular Zoom meetings, along with daily visits.
Three months later, his sister-in-law fell more than expected: 14 pounds (30 pounds). “He told me he never felt private,” Solaiman says. “This new way of eating had become his lifestyle.”
Soon his sister, three other lawyers and his friends were seeking help for Solaiman. It was at this time that Solaiman began promoting their coaching services on Instagram.
About six months after landing his first client, he had ten regulars.
What is Solaiman’s recipe for success?
Due to COVID, 100 percent of Solaiman’s customer interactions take place virtually. Schedule two Zoom sessions per month with each client and offer daily support with WhatsApp.
“With WhatsApp, they can send me messages whenever they need help or have difficulty,” he says.
Her clients turn to her in search of fat loss. To help them, Solaiman takes a person-centered approach, addressing everything from sleep to stress to emotional feeding.
“I try to get to know their whole story – their lifestyle, work, family, stressors, sleep habits, everything,” he says.

Yes, it will, she says.
But he will also continue to train nutrition on the side.
“Finally, I hope that nutritional training will be my main job and that clinical pharmacy will become my secondary job,” he says. “I love helping people. Although I can do it as a pharmacist, I can help more people as a nutrition coach. ”
Solaiman wants to work primarily with women.
“They often don’t know why they’re so tired or why they’re gaining weight,” he says. “I want them to understand that this is more about their health than their form. Your blood sugar, insulin response and hormonal balance is what really affects your feeling. When someone incorporates these factors into a healthy range, they also tend to lose weight. But they don’t have to focus on the scale or the numbers to do that. “
