Wearing a mask while exercising may be uncomfortable, but a new study should reassure gym attendees that it poses no real health risk.
“What we’ve found is that it’s safe to run at maximum exercise in both an N95 mask and a fabric mask,” said researcher Dr. Matthew Kampert, of the Cleveland Clinic.
His team examined 20 healthy, 37-year-old middle-aged people who ran on a treadmill to the point of exhaustion while wearing an N95 mask, a cloth mask and no mask.
