New Delhi: Union Steel Minister Ram Chandra Prasad Singh on Friday ordered his ministry’s PSUs to start mining activity at their non-operational mines.
According to a statement from the steel ministry, the minister made these remarks in a meeting with CMD of Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL), NMDC and Manganese Ore India Limited (MOIL).
“The steel minister has expressed concern about the non-operation of certain mines … and has ordered interested CPSEs to finalize the roadmap to start mining operations in these leases / mines that do not work,” he said. the ministry statement.
During the meeting, which was also attended by senior officials from the Ministry of Mines, Singh led the steel PSUs to speed up regulatory compliance to prevent the expiration of mine leases.
CPSEs have been instructed to submit a state report to the minister as soon as possible, he said.
Although SAIL is an integrated steel manufacturing company under the Ministry of Steel, NMDC and MOIL are engaged in the mining of various types of minerals, mainly iron ore and manganese.
