Natural stick recipe to relieve natural headache

Headaches are often a sign of a deeper problem (such as magnesium deficiency). Sometimes, though, headaches have a practical cause, such as the syndrome of five children playing to walk away from home. In any case, a natural stick can help you to relieve the headache.

I hardly have any headaches anymore as I have changed my diet and increased my magnesium levels. From time to time, there is inevitable stress or noise, but I can feel a headache. I have this headache relief stick in my hand during times like these.

This blend is made with a combination of cooling essential oils that help relieve stress, tension and nervous pain. It is also ideal for motion sickness or nausea (sailboat induced in my case, not for morning sickness!)

Why Magnesium Oil?

It is important to dilute essential oils so that they do not cause irritation. Instead of a carrier oil, we use magnesium oil as a carrier.

There is a wealth of evidence on the role of magnesium in the body, including headaches. Magnesium can help stop a headache before it starts or relieve itself when it is achieved. I make mine magnesium oil with this recipe as it is less expensive, but can also be obtained prefabricated magnesium oil.

Technically magnesium oil is not an oil, but a highly saturated mineral solution. Minerals help suspend essential oils and are diluted in the same way as salt. If you prefer a carrier oil or this is what you have on hand and need quick relief, this is also an option. Fractionated coconut oil, sweet almond oil, grape seed or olive oil will work.

What causes the headache (really)?

Headaches are caused by a variety of problems, but there is always a root cause. Our best bet is to nourish our body, practice healthy movements and address any underlying health issues.

According to Mayo Clinic, headaches are caused by the chemical activity of the brain, nerves, blood vessels, or muscles in the head and neck that act upward. The most common causes of headaches are:

  • Stress and anxiety
  • PMS
  • Ear ache
  • Allergies and congestion
  • Neuralgia (nerve pain)
  • Unhealthy alcohol, especially red wine (see Farm dry wines for your healthy wine choices)
  • Foods that contain nitrates or msg
  • Not enough sleep
  • Not enough food / water
  • Dental problems

How does this headache relief blend work

I chose this blend of essential oils and magnesium because it treats a wide range of headaches. So whether you’re nauseous or stressed or if your kids are upset, this mixture will probably help with the resulting headache.

Lavender

We are talking Lavandula angustifolia here, not lavender spike. This essential oil helps relieve several causes of headaches, including:

  • Allergies
  • Stress and feelings of anxiety
  • Tense muscles
  • Migraines
  • Vertigo

Incense

Incense is the next oil in our mix. There are several different varieties though boswellia carterii it is one of the most popular chemotypes and is good for relieving stress. Boswellia serrata it was shown to reduce the intensity and frequency of cluster headaches in a 2012 study. Both types of incense help relieve tension, stress, and inflammation-induced headaches.

Chamomile

Chamomile essential oil is also popular for controlling stress and tension. We can use Roman or German chamomile in this mix, but both work a little differently. Most prefer the smell of Roman chamomile and it is also better for reducing stress. German chamomile is better for calming inflammation.

Both types of chamomile help:

  • Allergies
  • Ear ache
  • Insomnia
  • Stress
  • Neuralgia (nerve pain)

Mint (and safety)

Mint has cooling menthol that helps relieve tense and sore muscles and headaches. It is also invigorating and brings some advantage (this is not coffee) when the feet crawl. However, mint has some safety considerations more than the rest of the oils in this blend.

Peppermint essential oil should not be applied near the faces of very young children as it can cause respiratory problems. Mothers who are breastfeeding or carrying a baby would not want to apply it while keeping the baby close. Fortunately, here is an alternative solution.

Mint has much less menthol and is also good for stress and headaches. Although mint and mint work similarly, mint is less intense and does not have the same safety precautions in children. While I don’t recommend putting it on a baby, using green mint means it’s safe for your baby to be by your side and smell the mixture.

Mint is also safe for topical use for children older than two years. In general, essential oils used in children should be diluted more than adults. The following recipe is for adults, but with some modifications could be used in older children.

Is it safe during pregnancy?

According to certified aromatherapists, this mixture is safe to use during pregnancy. Because it is diluted in the right amount and used in a small area, it is safe for moms.

Where to get supplies

Most of these ingredients are in mine First aid kit, but a premixed roller bottle makes them easier to apply and store in the bag.
You can do it as a spray or lotion, but I prefer something that doesn’t get into my hands. Let me tell you that, by accident, getting essential oils in your eyes is not fun.

Natural stick to relieve headaches

This natural headache relief stick has magnesium and essential oils to help eliminate headaches quickly and naturally.

Instructions

  • Remove the cap from the roller bottle (include the entire plastic part with the ball). I slide a butter knife between the plastic edge and the glass to make it come out.

  • Pour the essential oils into the roller bottle.

  • Add enough magnesium oil to reach the top.

  • Replace the roller stop and cover it tightly.

Notes

How to use: For headaches, apply it to the back of the neck, shoulders, the base of the skull (where the neck meets the head) and / or the temples. Be sure to avoid the eye area. Personally, I use it on the back of my neck and shoulders.
For nausea and motion sickness they are applied to the wrists.

If you have a chronic headache or even migraines, I recommend trying herbal remedies as the matrix.

Shelf life and storage

Because magnesium is a mineral, magnesium oil can last for years. Essential oils have a variable shelf life, but according to aromatherapists Plant Therapy the oils in this mixture will last about 2-3 years. The mixture should be stored away from direct light, heat or freezing temperatures for optimal shelf life.
