The injuries occur as Israeli bombing of the Gaza Strip continues and inter-communal violence spreads to Israel.
Dozens of Palestinians have been injured in separate incidents in the occupied West Bank, sources told Al Jazeera as tensions escalate amid Israeli intensification bombing of the besieged Gaza Strip.
At least eight Palestinians were injured on Thursday when a group of settlers from an illegal settlement attacked the village of Duwwaneh, near Hebron, Al Jazeera’s Nida Ibrahim reported, Ramallah reports. Four of them needed hospitalization, according to local sources.
Separately, at least 34 Palestinians were wounded in clashes with the Israeli army overnight in various parts of the West Bank, Ibrahim added.
The last round of injuries occurred when Palestinians in the occupied West Bank took to the streets in solidarity with Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.
On Wednesday, Palestinian teenager Rashid Abu Arreh was shot dead by the Israeli army in Tubas, north of Nablus, according to the Palestinian Ministry of Health. Hours earlier, Hussein al-Titi, 26, had been shot dead during protests against the Israeli army in the Al-Fawwar refugee camp, medical sources said.
Ibrahim said the type of Palestinian injuries in the occupied West Bank, which have mostly occurred in the Hebron district, show the extent of Israeli repression.
“It’s an exceptionally high number of people injured by live fire,” Ibrahim said, “which shows us that the situation could escalate fairly quickly.”
The Israeli military has said Hamas began firing rockets at Israel on Monday afternoon, after days of protests from the US military. expulsion of Palestinian families from the occupied Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood in East Jerusalem and resulting from Israeli police raids on the grounds of the Al-Aqsa Mosque.
Israel launched a series of airstrikes against the Gaza Strip that killed at least 83 Palestinians, including 17 children, according to Palestinian health officials. At least seven Israelis have died in the climb.
Violence has also seen one Ear in inter-communal violence in religiously “mixed” cities in Israel, such as Lod, Acre, and Haifa, including attempts to lynch, destroy property, and burn religious sites.
“Complete and violent repression”
Speaking to Ramallah’s Al Jazeera, researcher and writer Mariam Barghouti said the treatment of Israeli security forces on Palestinians in both Israel and the Occupied Palestinian Territories shows “Israel’s discriminatory practices.”
“But more than that, it reminds us that we are Palestinians,” he said. “It simply came to our notice then. The border lines that have been drawn for us are completely blurred by the Palestinians, ”Barghouti added.
“The complete and violent repression of Israeli police in places like Haifa is proving that no settler will ever give the same rights, never give the right to people who are natives of the land.”
Barghouti said that the next anniversary of May 15 of the creation of the state of Israel in 1948, which is marked annually, as in Nakba (or catastrophe) by the Palestinians, it will not be “commemorated,” but “confronted”.
“The Nakba continues. Sheikh Jarrah is displaced. Haifa is a displacement, “Barghouti said.” What Israel is doing is trying to complete what began in 1948. “
