MDEC (Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation) is organized this August Malaysia Technical Month 2021 (MTM 2021) for the second time since 2020. The event will also mark the corporation’s 25th year as a government-designated agency to cultivate a nation with digital capability.

MTM featured lectures, talks and talks by key figures in the digital technology industry such as Tan Sri Tony Fernandes (CEO of AirAsia Group), Eric Cheng (co-founder and CEO of Carsome Group) and Professor Dr Michio Kaku Renowned futurist and best-selling author).

Aside from the talks, MTM 2021 is also home MyDigitalWorkforce Week (MDWW), the digital skills anchoring event at MTM, tailor-made for local job seekers.

Provide training opportunities for job seekers

MDWW will feature webinars and refresher classes to be held August 16-20. From the 16th to the 30th of August.

Some of the webinars, for example Let’s Learn Digital, offer free online digital marketing courses with Facebook, Google and LinkedIn certification. There are also classes on how they can strengthen their LinkedIn presence and how they can excel in a competitive job market.

Hiring companies will also offer talks about their industry, so that potential employees will be able to better understand the company’s work environment, benefits and growth opportunities.

That said, the main attraction of the event for job seekers will be the Digital Jobs Expo. The work exhibition will promote more than 5,000 jobs listed by local businesses. Here are some of the companies they hire during MDWW:

1. Dell Technologies

Dell Technologies is one of the world’s leading technology in digital transformation, providing technology solutions, products and services to companies around the world. Locally, the company has established three locations nationwide in Bukit Minyak (APCC2), Penang (SWTC) and Cyberjaya.

One of the roles they are looking for is one Senior Advisor for its Cyberjaya penetration testing team. The candidate must have at least 8 years or more of experience in information security and more than five years of direct experience in areas of penetration testing, development exploitation and more.

TS Koay, CEO of Dell Technologies at Cyberjaya, said Dell has adopted remote work throughout the pandemic and will continue to do so in the future through its Connected Workplace program.

2. Hitachi eBworx Sdn Bhd

Hitachi eBworx is a financial solutions specialist that provides digital solutions to the financial services industry. Its client list includes Maybank, the CIMB group and other notable Malaysian banks. Although the company was originally founded as eBworx in 1998, Hitachi bought it in 2012.

The company is present in five countries: Malaysia, Indonesia, China, Singapore and Thailand. Prospective employees must also be willing to travel at least regionally and accept tasks abroad.

At MDWW, they are hiring one Technical manager a Java / Microservices. Once hired, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and testing banking solutions for clients as you lead and execute team projects.

3. Karuna (Sarawak) Sdn Bhd

Karuna is a local company that provides web design and development, graphic design and software development services to businesses. They have served customers in the Maldives, Hong Kong and even Singapore.

Melvin Ong, the CEO of Karuna, believes that new graduates are good with Javascript and Framework like React Native, React JS and Flutter. However, “they do not have the understanding of .NET or PHP,” which are widely used languages ​​in the industry.

“Usually these [understanding of programming languages] comes with work experience. One way to improve this is to do an internship with an IT company focused on developing software or mobile applications, ”Melvin continued.

They are looking to hire one Full Stack Developer and your daily tasks will be to design user interface for websites, develop servers and databases for clients.

4. Petronas Digital Sdn Bhd

PETRONAS Digital Sdn Bhd is the IT and digital delivery arm that enables PETRONAS to be a progressive partner of energy and solutions to enrich lives for a sustainable future.

The company understands that “data is the new oil,” so they are focusing on hiring more staff to go through this transition. One role to play is one Data scientist. Under PETRONAS, you will design, plan, coordinate and implement data science activities that support the company’s digital agenda.

Phuah Aik Chong, head of digital engineering at PETRONAS Digital Sdn Bhd, said that “customer centricity and sustainability are at the heart of everything we do”. They want to hire talent who is self-employed and who is ultimately not afraid to take risks and try new things in their industry.

5. Shopee Mobile Malaysia Sdn Bhd

Most of us relate Shopee to the usual sales of 9.9, 11.11 and 12.12. Shopee is also one of the companies that prioritizes its businesses employee growth, which allows them to take positions that can influence change within the company and the digital economy even as newcomers.

They are currently looking for one Business Intelligence Analyst who will be tasked with developing business strategies and projects to help drive high-impact business change.

For those who are more inclined to Fintech and enjoy problem solving for the team, you can consider joining ShopeePay project management equipment. You will work closely with different stakeholders in the company and run the ShopeePay product roadmap in Malaysia.
