Germany will reopen its borders later this month to non-EU citizens vaccinated against COVID-19, the government announced on Thursday.
From 25 June, non-EU nationals can enter Germany for any reason, such as tourism or studying at a university, the Interior Ministry said.
Currently, only people with exceptional reasons are allowed to enter the country.
But travelers must have been fully vaccinated at least 14 days before arrival with a vaccine approved by the European Medicines Agency.
However, travelers from countries where coronavirus circulation is rampant will be banned.
In recent weeks, Germany has experienced a sharp drop in COVID-19 cases.
