Dogs, Fireworks and CBD – Savage CBD

During the weekend of July 4, more pets disappear than at any other time of the year. This is due to loud noises and dogs that party guests accidentally let out. So here are some helpful tips on how to prepare your dog for the weekend of July 4th.

Why dogs disappear

Dogs tend to disappear during the summer because we tend to entertain more guests. It’s too hot to be inside, so we gather a lot more outside to have a barbecue, hang out by the pool, and fireworks explode.

Summer

One of the reasons dogs usually disappear during the summer is because of all the meetings there. When you enter guests there is usually a lot of traffic on foot entering and leaving your home. This often causes the dog to be accidentally let out by someone leaving a door open. We are often too distracted with our guests to realize that Fido is on the street chasing squirrels.

Fireworks

Needless to say, most dogs get scared / alarmed due to the loud, sudden noises of fireworks. In addition, dogs have excellent hearing, so loud bumps often cause anxiety. It is important to understand that dogs are sent into a fighting or running mentality when they are scared. Thus, naturally, a startled dog will be frightened and try to escape the perceived danger.

One recommendation we have is to give it to your dog CBD spray for pets before the fireworks come out. There are many benefits to giving CBD to your dog, especially during July 4th.

What CBD promotes in dogs

Like humans, dogs have what is called an endocannabinoid system (ECS); this is what helps regulate certain functions of your body, such as pain, appetite, and how they respond to stress. In addition, when a dog takes CBD it binds slightly to CB1 receptors just like in humans.

This means that CBD can provide the same effect in dogs as in humans. It helps promote relaxation without the effects of marijuana. Some of our clients give CBD to their dogs when they experience general discomfort, and even spray it on hot spots. Results may vary, as we have seen that in some younger dogs it may tend to activate Zoomies.

How much CBD should I give my dog?

It all depends on how your dog reacts to CBD and his body weight. We have not noticed a specific recommended amount for different breeds; however, the size of the dog is what determines the amount of CBD you should give it. What we do recommend is to talk to your veterinarian first, especially if your dog is taking medication or has an underlying illness.

The general guideline is: 1 mg of CBD for every 10 pounds. So if you use our pet CBD spray, that would be about 1-2 sprays for every 10 pounds. Our recommendation is to start with a small dose and see how your dog reacts. If you think they enjoy it without any visual signs of discomfort, great! In addition, we use very simple natural ingredients such as MCT coconut oil, hemp seed oil, full spectrum cannabidiol (CBD).

Dogs, fireworks and CBD - Conclusion

July 4th should be a time of celebration for everyone, and your dogs should be comfortable too. However, this is not the case with most dogs. Therefore, we recommend that you give your dog some pet CBD and see how he likes it. Also, while you’re at it, also grab some CBD for yourself. We hope you and your family have a safe and fun July 4th weekend!
