The media network says the bombing is a “clear act” to prevent journalists from reporting on events in the Gaza Strip and promises to follow all available routes to hold the Israeli government accountable.

Al Jazeera condemns the strongest terms bombing and destruction of its offices by the Israeli army in Gaza and sees this as a clear act to prevent journalists from fulfilling their sacred duty to inform the world and report on the facts on the ground.

Residents and occupants of the al-Jalaa building, which housed Al Jazeera’s office, along with major international media outlets, such as The Associated Press and Middle East Eye, were briefed by the Israeli military through of a phone call they had less than an hour to vacate the building.

Al Jazeera calls on all media and human rights institutions to join forces to denounce these relentless bombings and to hold the Israeli government accountable for deliberately directing journalists and media institutions.

Commenting on the bombing of the Al-Jalaa building, Dr Mostefa Souag, acting director of Al Jazeera Media Network, said: “We call on the international community to condemn these barbaric actions and the goal of journalists and we demand immediate international action Israel responds to its deliberate goal to journalists and media institutions ”.

Dr Souag added: “The aim of this heinous crime is to silence the media and hide the unspeakable carnage and suffering of the people of Gaza.

“The destruction of offices of Al Jazeera and other media organizations in Gaza’s al-Jalaa Tower is a flagrant violation of human rights and is considered a war crime internationally. We call on all media media and human rights institutions to denounce this heinous crime and to stand by Al Jazeera and other media organizations targeted by the Israeli army, despite knowing the use of the building as its headquarters for many years ”.

The aggression on the building that houses international media institutions aims to silence the truth by killing the messenger.

Journalism is not a crime.
