AirAsia announced in a Press release today (June 14) calls for traders in fresh produce and groceries interested in Singapore to join its delivery platform.
Successful new grocery traders will enjoy a zero percent commission during the first month.
Enthusiastic traders can include their fresh produce, groceries and various daily products on the AirAsia platform via a form, and the AirAsia team will contact you within 48 hours for the next course of action.
This move means AirAsia’s entry into the grocery delivery space in Singapore, but the company did not reveal when the new service would be launched.
“After the successful release of Eat AirAsia here in February, we are ready to expand our ecommerce offerings to include other categories, such as fresh produce, groceries and miscellaneous delivery, ”said Lim Ben-Jie, head of ecommerce at AirAsia Superapplication.
In March, AirAsia launched its meal in Singapore, marking its first foray abroad. Its expansion into Singapore is part of the company’s efforts to seek alternative sources of revenue, as the aviation sector remains severely affected due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
At launch, AirAsia Food featured nearly 80 restaurants, with the addition of about 300 restaurants to the platform later.
Now AirAsia joins the ranks of other super apps that have launched grocery delivery services in Singapore.
In early May, Grab announced the launch of GrabSupermarket in Singapore as part of a strategic expansion of GrabMart, Grab’s on-demand delivery service.
It houses more than 5,000 unique HAO Mart products covering categories of meat and poultry, vegetables, frozen foods, dry and instant foods, dairy products, condiments, snacks, beverages and non-food commodities.
